The year in pictures (2012)

Well, it is a new year.

I just got my new lens so I'll be out playing this afternoon at the Wetlands Trust. I'll be sure to post here later but as I will be using new editing software it might be a while.

If it's not raining or blowing a gale I might manage to take a walk in the woods and survey what damage has been done my camera has not been used in a while, the others were taken on my phone

After all the rain we have had since Christmas the river is still rising here and they are planning the temporary flood defences.

This was the Museum of the Gorge a couple of months ago



and this morning



The bench I was sitting on when I took the first photo (and where I often sit normally as it is a good 6 feet above the river level but very pleasant to watch the ducks and swans from)

According to the maintenance workers I was talking to this afternoon the river will rise at least another 4 feet tonight as the water makes it way down from the surrounding hills so that will flood a significant section of the town. Not me I'm glad to say but awful for those whose homes are about to go underwater

The ducks seem to be enjoying it though.

I've been flooded and it's just horrible. I'm glad I live on the first floor these days - although there's nowhere around here likely to flood.

Ouch Joolz that looks expensive and painful for the person riding at the time as well.

Hope you can get it to its former glory.

It scares the hell out of me when I'm in Tucson, to see people riding motorbikes in shorts, t-shirts and sandels. Very few of them seem to wear crash helmets and I've seen more car accidents in Tucson than I've ever seen elsewhere.

Oh yes Fully Comp, protected NCD and- this is the best bit- I took excess cover, a 30 quid payment covers my £500 excess I ummed and ahhed about taking that option cos I've never claimed Pleased the bloke was so persuasive now

Floods are never good Mad... then I remembered YOUR floods are COLD water... its usually happen in the summer.

Jools..... don't take this the wrong way..... but stuff the bike. you could have been really badly hurt.. or worse.

Joolz - It IS a good start to the New Year - You survived! The bike can be replaced / repaired.
