In the UK, bluebottles are flies. Big, black (with a slight blue shimmer on the wings) nasty, shit landing on, flies.

^ man, you're funny Del. South Queensland beaches are beautiful as well, but they do get crowded. My husband and daughter have both been stung by jellyfish. Ed was snorkling & got a Bluebottle wrapped around his head and chest, nasty. The worst was my daughter, she went mental, screaming and thrashing about in the water. I thought a shark had grabbed her. Swimming over to her was one of the most intense yet surreal moments of my life. The beach is great though :D .

Om my gosh Jenn!

Your poor husband! Some people react to them badly and some not so much. My husband was in pain for days after a few got him at Bribie Island... and yet Morgan got bitten last summer and barely reacted... and she has THE most sensative skin of all of us.

I cant even imagine that. Though... yep.... I would be swimming TOWARDS my daughter as you did too. Mothers! There is no hope for us!

Those marine stingers can be a bugger huh. I was snorkelling in the Whitsundays in another lifetime and my foot hit fire coral. Never heard of it before... but I thought a shark had taken my foot off. I still have the marks on my ankle. Looks like coral...ISN'T. Dont touch coral.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

No! No! No! No! Bouncy.

There are two people. One is the hubby. I was married to him at 25 and even though we were only together for about three years (24/7 because of the nature of his job), we stayed the best of friends until he died when Truly was about 14. After me he had a lady who had 6 girls with him. They were all so tiny when he died :( He was a decent man, an amazing father and a good friend to me and all my family til the day he died. I even had his "wife" and kids to stay with us when they were in the city. I still talk to his Mum all the time (she is sent from heaven to show us what the best of the best of a person can be) in Rockhampton and even holidayed with his family in Rockhampton for years after out split. (even one year with the ex-arse!) His mum used to come down for the birth of all the girls and they all think of her as Grandma. She reminds me of my Mum and is the only other person in the world I ever called Mum with as much love in my heart as I have for my own mother. I havent seen her for a few years as she has kidney failure and cant travel from Rocky anymore. She gets dyalisis every week at the hospital. Poppy died last year and we were shattered. My hubby was a wonderful intelligent man who never even argued with me, never raised his voice or swore (well not in front of me)who brought a wonderful extended family into our lives.

Then there is the ex-arse..... totally different kettle of fish (dead fish). And his family are all as arsey as he is. His mother was Satans little helper and was forever telling the girls they would burn in the fires of hell for EVER because we werent married. The rest of the family are of the same mold and who would gladly cut each others throats to get to the money. No seriously... they would feed their 95 yr old grandmother rich rich sweet food even though she had diabetes. Rich and yet they put both their parents into paupers homes to die a nasty death (both in the same year the year before last) and when they did it was like a weight had been lifted off our shoulders.

So remember.... "the hubby" NICE. "the ex-arse" NOT NICE.

Wow! They are getting so grown up, Susanne. Ava looks about 17 in that first shot. :D
