Piders! Yuk! Eek! and similar expletives. Toothy can't stand the things with all their gangly articulated movements and scuttling and other hideousness. Eugh! Eugh! Eugh!

This reminds her of the story Jason once told of being summoned into his daughter's bedroom to remove an arachnid, only to decide, Calendar Girls style (so to speak), that he needed a considerably bigger receptacle. When depositing said arachnid out of the window, it landed with a thud on the lower window ledge... Toothy is only grateful that it would have too long a walk from Jason's to reach her home.

Having said that, Toothy is a big fan of the film Arachnophobia. Why is that? :?

Will has NOT seen Arachnophobia. Spiders are one of the reasons Will is unlikely to visit Oz any time soon.

Speaking of phobias, Will got quite a feeling of vertigo looking at the Third Person thread plummeting down the page. He now feels much more comfortable.

Bonnie skips in and sighs with relief when she sees a piece of home has migrated too. She thanks Toofs and waves "hello" to all. Bonnie sends "congrats" to Joanne and is sure she will manage to keep up with everything. She's sorry to hear that Binky was feeling poorly.

Bonnie brought in a carton of bibs for everyboardie as Docandie's culinary skills can often result in soggy shoes from all the drooling. She thanks Will for bringing in the lovely flowers and Jules for the spiffy new sofa. Bonnie is glad to see the 3PT so lively again and looks forward to making many lovely new friends. Bonnie would also like to see a few more missing friends and wonders if Jock, Mac and AM Dwarf have been seen or are still MIA with Thumpy?

Bonnie tells Aunty that she still has a difficult time wrapping her mind around Hogswatch being in Spring/Summer in Oz. She envies those who have snow for that holiday. All she manages to get is freezing weather or rain. She wonders if Helen manages to get snow by Hogswatch?

Bonnie leaves an assortment of wine, beer/ale, cheese, crackers, olives, fruit and chocolate for all to enjoy.
Be careful what you wish for as you just might get it.

Docandie waves at Bonnie and says there is supposed to be rain her tomorrow - it is already wet because it rained most of Sunday.
Fortunately all Docandie's activities are going to be indoors - probably most in the kitchen - so the weather can do what it will outside.

Docandie is going to be in Livermore for Christmas week so her grands can pamper her... Or so they say......

Poor Aston is going to have to stay with his grandma for the week and Docandie feels he is going to be a bit unhappy, being away from "his" couch for that time.
Docandie has to admit that he is spoiled rotten but it's only because he is so cute.

Helen waves at Bonnie too and is glad to see her over this side as well and also hopes more of the migrating boardies will get here soon. :)

Helen is a BIG arachnophob, she will never sqash spiders but can not stand them *shudders* they way they move with all those legs and how they just appear out of nowhere floating right in front of you *shudders some more*. Helen must quickly change the subject....

Helen would never be able to accept having Hogswatch during spring/summer, her Uncle lives over in XXXX and when he calls saying he's on the beach on Christmas day, Helen just can't get her head round it, its just so wrong! :P

Helen wonders what delights Docandie will be cooking this weekend???

Helen has next week of to get crafty making christmas pressie and do a biut of christmas shopping to so she will be full of christmas cheer!

Helen's off to do some work now and leaves bowls of ReadyBrek with brown sugar and for raisins for everyone to warm them up!
The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don’t think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!

Docandie doesn't like some spiders but doesn't mind others. She does kill the black widows around the garden and especially the sheds and the occasional brown recluse, however she leaves the tarantulas alone as they eat the pest bugs and are not poisonous. The kids around here often have them as pets, which can be a bit startling for newcomers. She also appreciates the orb-weaver spiders that construct the lovely big webs in the garden. They trap and kill a lot of garden pests.

Docandie roasted a capon for Thanksgiving dinner, made lime marmalade glazed carrots and a couple of pumpkin custard pies and took everything to her neighbor's as her contribution to their big family and friends gathering.

She has candied a big batch of ginger, smaller batches of orange, lemon and grapefruit peel for inclusion in stollen, steamed puddings and fruitcake that does not require lengthy "aging" and also she is making a Dundee cake and a Jamaican black cake for people who have requested them.
She has a list of cookie recipes to attempt, although she thinks there will be too many to finish them all. Some cookie doughs can be prepared and refrigerated or frozen for later baking.
She has a "production line" routine where on one day she measures out all the dry ingredients for several batches of cookies, puts them plastic bags and the bags into big bowls or on trays with the printed recipe and any special ingredients, except for perishables, then when she is ready to mix and bake, not having to measure those dry ingredients is a huge time saver. Also it is a way to be sure one has all the ingredients.
It is so annoying to start a recipe and find one is missing one or more necessary ingredient. Docandie has organized her holiday baking this way for decades and can't think of doing it any other way.

Now it's time to get started on today's project. More later.

Haha! Toothy and younger Toothlet nearly watched Hogfather this afternoon, too! ;) They'd been to a school commemoration service (Toothy had the day off for this) and had lots of mum/daughter time together afterwards. :) After a lovely lunch out, they snuggled up on the sofa and watched Calendar Girls. Fun film. :)

Tonight is the second performance of Cold Comfort Farm for Toothy's local theatre group. She's the Prompt. The first night went OK, with Toothy called on only once. Phew! Break a leg for a fab night tonight, Cast! It's been a sell out show, even with extra rows of seating added for tonight.

It's great to see so many HC boardies have now made the transition to this shiny, new board. There are some who have registered but not yet posted as far as Toothy can see, such as Goddess and the Pers (Per 1 - normal, Per 2 - risqué dude, Per 3 - geeky, Per7e - glamour puss, Per8 - Ooo-arrrr, Jim Lad, and Per 13, the ABC Per... think Altogether Andrews! Luckily we haven't ever experienced a Burke equivalent, as far as we can tell!).

Toothy wishes a belated Happy Thanksgiving to the US of A boardies and heads off to prepare for...Showtime! :D

Aunty tells Bonnie and Helen that they would probably find it very surreal if they were in XXXX for Christmas. Despite that fact it is the middle of summer Ecksians still have Christmas carols playing about snow falling and sleigh-bells ringing, exchange cards of cute critters rugged up and throwing snowballs and generally insist on having a roast dinner despite the 40 degree heat. Of course, Aunty wouldn't have it any other way :D Plus there are certain advantages, like picking fresh raspberries and cherries on Christmas eve and sleeping off the roast dinner by collapsing into a hammock in the back yard!

Aunty thought she had seen our dear Goddess and the multiple Pers register, so she is also looking forward to seeing them :happy-bouncymagenta: about the threads! She hopes Mrs Ogg finds her way across too as Aunty knows she was trying to make her way over just as this forum went wobbly for a bit in transition.

Aunty is also very excited about the wonderful range of cute smilies :animals-dogrun: she even found one of these :flags-australia:

Bonnie pops in to say she just IM'd Lydia and Ileana. Lydia has registered and will be by for a visit soon. Ileana has been her usual very-busy self. Also Sanjra said she did not have any trouble logging in here and will stop in to visit soon. Bonnie would like to know if anyone has seen Tad or IT around? She sent a note to John & Gathpode in hopes that they would show up.

Bonnie really likes all the new Smilies. This one looks like MrE buying her Hogswatch pressie. :techie-ebay: This looks like the deal she made to get him to do it. :text-givemebeer: These look appropriate for the season. :occasion-santa: :occasion-snowman: :occasion-xmas: And here's one that reminds her of Speedo. :character-shaggy: Oh, Bonnie wants to know if she can bring in the Hogswatch tree and sparkly lights?

Bonnie leaves hot chocolate, hot apple cider, hot toddies and candy canes for all as she dashes back out the door.

Will looks around at the shiny new forum.

Will is overwhelmed by smileys beyond the dreams of Creosote. :D

The muppets are a nice touch. :character-kermit: :character-oscar:

Will wonders when he can find an opportunity to use this one :animals-chickencatch:

Will waves to all the HC boardies who have signed up since he last posted. :greetings-wavegreen: Will is intrigued by Mac's new username and wonders if it is a reference to Buxton the Blue Cat in the Magic Roundabout movie?

Will has been buying Hogswatch presents at the International Bazaar, which is when all the different nationalities in Luxembourg set up stalls in the exhibition centre and try to sell each other their national specialities. Will's favourite so far (for a small great-niece) is a soft toy dodo from the Mauritius stand.

This has to have something to do with Methodia Rascal... ;)

Hi, Mac! It's great to see you, although it'll take time to get the hang of the new moniker! :D
