The Third Person Thread - Part the first

[Toothy]

On her tour of the new website, Toothy has found some interesting threads that she'll definitely have to delve into over the next few days and weeks. She didn't find anything akin to the third person thread that was very popular on the old board, so takes the plunge and creates one in her new home.

For anyone who hasn't a clue what Toothy is on about (or even on!), this is the thread where boardies can let it all hang out but using the third person. No first person pronouns (aka the forbidden pronoun) are used on this thread.

Toothy has no idea how this started on the HC board but it was the most popular thread and some have already said they really want to see it here, too. Igor has lowered the lightning rod and here is the resurrected result.

And... away the boardies go!

Penfold wants to know whether Toothy related to the Auditors of Reality, by any chance?

Tonyblack, on a recent trip to the Harper Collins board, noticed that the third person thread was a really popular one. He considers it a very welcome idea to start one on the Transworld thread.


Tonyblack has also noticed that he was still in Igor mode from posting on another thread.

Aunty has been having a lovely time wandering around the threads and getting to know the forum a bit. Among other things she has been admiring some of Penfold's photos and will be back to look out for some more later.

But Aunty does love the idea of having a nice comfy third person thread to come back to and thinks it is brilliant that Toothy started it up here.

Aunty does wonder momentarily where Thumpy has gone with that moving van as the place is looking a little sparse so far.

She also warns others that may decide to go down the strange path of talking about themselves in the third person on this thread that there might be a brief but embarrassing period where they might accidentally do it in real life

[Fluffy]

Fluffy says hello to everyone. She is glad to slip into a lovely third-person thread. She tells Toothy she likes the new avatar!

Fluffy is taking some Spanish classes at night to brush up on her very old school Spanish. She is beginning to suspect that her middle-aged brain does not work as well as previous versions.

Peaches and Binky, Fluffy's cats, do not say hello. They just lie there and blink. Perhaps if Fluffy has a few martinis they will be chatty cats. She will experiment with this later in the week.

Doughnut Jimmy thinks this thread could be quite entertaining but she is confused by TonyBlack's comment because she thought he didn't like Igors?

Will pops his head around the door, waves at everyboardie, and looks at the decor in the shiny new thread.

Will thinks there should be pot plants. (That's plants in pots... )

Meerkat is somewhat puzzled, as she is a simple soul, but will hang on the thread until she gets a hang of it!

[Willem]

Willem has some trouble getting used to this since he always puts himself first. Second he could live with, but third? Really?

Danny B doesn't often talk about himself in the third person; that's just not how he rolls. Danny B likes the correct usage of personal pronouns.

Danny B is going to watch with interest to see who'll be the first one to slip up.

As a sidenote, Danny B wants to know if everyone else is 'hearing' everything written in this thread in Mr T's voice, just like he is? Or does it sound more creepy and serial killer-ish for everyone else?
