What's your take on Pyramids? I notice that never got a mention. I liked the bit in the doctor's in that book. I forget exactly how it goes, but the doctor diagnoses Pteppic as being dead at one point.

:D The doctor sat back. 'Fairly straightforward,' he said, thinking quickly. 'A case of mortis portalis tackulatum with complications.' 'What's that mean?' said Chidder. 'In layman's terms,' the doctor sniffed, 'he's as dead as a doornail.'

:) Mind you, this one from the Last Continent is brilliant:

'I suppose he wouldn't have done anything stupid, would he?' he said.
'Archchancellor, Ponder Stibbons is a fully trained wizard!' said the Dean.
'Thank you for that very concise and definite answer, Dean,' said Ridcully

:D Accidentally discovered this splendid one from the Pyramids:

"I fear the Ephebians, especially when they're mad enough to leave bloody great wooden livestock on the doorstep, talk about nerve, they must think we was born yesterday, set fire to it."

Popcap wrote:well whats your favorite quote from the series?

i got a terrible memory when it comes to these things, i sometimes find something incredibly funny and make a mind note of remembering, but i then on the next morning ive forgot :(

"The only things known to go faster than ordinary light is monarchy, according to the philosopher Ly Tin Weedle. He reasoned like this: you can't have more than one king, and tradition demands that there is no gap between kings, so when a king dies the succession must therefore pass to the heir instantaneously. Presumably, he said, there must be some elementary particles -- kingons, or possibly queons -- that do this job, but of course succession sometimes fails if, in mid-flight, they strike an anti-particle, or republicon. His ambitious plans to use his discovery to send messages, involving the careful torturing of a small king in order to modulate the signal, were never fully expanded because, at that point, the bar closed."

i stumbled over this the other day... haha, reminds me of physics in school
A quote concerning monarchy that I like is
Once a King always a King - once a (k)night is quite enough

Douglas Adams - It hung in the air just like a brick doesn't
Too many of Terry's to list.

 Douglas Adams is very quotable too!

More than the actual quotes from TP books, I love the comparisons. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is something like - The ceiling sagged like the bottom of a fat man's bed.

:D Hi this is my first post so forgive me if I do something wrong!

I cant remember the actual quote but it is when Rob Anybody is explaining how its difficult to get into limbo because it has a verrry low door.

I giggled like an idiot on the bus on the way to work when i first read it, the other passengers gave me some very strange looks. x

I think Pyramids is up to Pterry's usual standard.Brilliant in other words, although I half expected Michael Jackson to put in an appearance with the mob of mummies scene.

What would you call a collection of mummies?
A mob of mummies......or
A dusting of mummies..or
A wrapping of mummies..or
A natrum of mummies.....or
A tangle of mummies.
Dark in here isn't it.
