oh darn did not make note of your name darn thats Dyslxia for you .

Im faily new here too and i am total enjoying it, its well funny.

I am currently reading Winter Smith, its really funny; is art of the trillagey of books The -Wee-Men, Hat Full Of Sky and then Witersmith. They are about a girl called Tiffany, wont say anymore as I dont want to spoll it for those who have not read them yet.

Its nice to be able to share appions withs other Terry fans.

A big Welcom and what are you reading at the moment?

Hey freddy! Thanks for the welcome. I'm reading Making Money at the minute but I have read the Wee Free Men before. Still need to get around to Hat Full of Sky and Wintersmith. I am definitely a slow reader! It used to take me like a couple of days to read a Pratchett, now it takes a few weeks. I'm so busy these days

Nienna - ermm how to describe... It's kind of a hedge masquerading as a not too high and movable fence (offence!). Origins I think go right back to when people first began to herd animals and used saplings/branches to weave fences to temporarily corral them.
The term's now more associated with horse racing and showjumping fences... The Chair (I think that's the hedgey one) in the Grand National being a rather splendid example. I think that tradition goes back to the 17th & 18th cents when the fox hunting classes started racing more competitively and as hurdles were used a lot out in those country huntin' shootin' an fishin'-type areas, they got used to make the point to point and racing jumps. Which is where the name hurdles also came to be used for human hurdling races too :lol:

Well Tiffany and Silver - the hedge variety of hurdles in this neck of the woods have leaves growing on them, so I guess they could have nuts too at the appropriate time of year. The fence sort of hurdle probably not as they wouldn't be rooted of course...
