I've finally got the photos I have taken recently uploaded. :) I've actually filled my Picasa account, so I've created a new one - which was a lot harder than I thought. :?

This first set (I'll post the others over the next few days) was at Reid Park Zoo, here in Tucson. I'd never been there before, and neither has Sharlene, so it was fun to look at the photos together. I left out the pictures of the polar bear, who looked very uncomfortable in the Arizona heat.

Nice place and pics Tony, and the animals didn't even turn to flash their backsides at the camera (apart from the White Rhino).

This was a walk I did on 3rd May in the Rincon Mts. There's a ridge that starts in Saguaro East Park and rises right up into the mountains. I only did about an hour before I turned around as I was visiting Sharlene later that day and this is really a full day/overnight walk. I also made a video from a high point, but lost a lot of the commentary through wind noise.

Tanque Verde Ridge Walk. :D

It looks a tad dry and dusty there tony, would you like some of our drought to moisten things up? ;)

It also looks like a fantastic place to walk. When you say full day & overnight I assume you mean sleeping in a lodge (or some such) along the trail or do you actually walk through part of the night to get back to 'civilization'? :D

Sharlene says "you ain't seen dry and dusty yet. It's the greenest she's seen Tucson in 40 years".

As to the walk - it depends on how you do it. It's about 18 miles to the campsite at Juniper Basin and back, but you could do the whole ridge and get someone to pick you up from the end point. You'd need to use a campsite as you really cannot just pitch a tent anywhere. You really can't wander off the trail at all as there are too many plants that have vicious spikes all over them. If Australia has lots of creatures that are trying to harm you, Arizona has lots of plants trying to do the same thing.

Seriously, it's very dry and involves a lot of climbing, but the views are spectacular. :D

Hike details.
