Nice orchid Bonnie.
When I worked in the mines my two immediate bosses would bring flowers to me everyday. One day they forgot so one of the foremen sent a crew out to the far side of the minesite with a cherrypicker to get a rare orchid from high up in a tree he knew about
When he found out how much I loved orchids he would bring me in one or two of the most amazing specimens (just the flower) and I would put them on a damp plate into the fridge and take them out and look at them while I had lunch.
He died some time later and we only then found out that he was one of the most prolific orchid breeders in Australia. He had huge greenhouses and his wife had no interest so they had to find someone to travel all the way up north to save the orchids he had. You would never have guessed it........ because he never picked his orchids!!! His wife told me that I was the only one he had ever picked flowers for. Dont get me wrong I
loved the flowers he brought in (and it wasnt all the time or bunches,,, just little flowers) but if I had only known I would have been 10 times more grateful. And how good would it have been to see the greenhouses.
It looks pretty when its in flower Mad... but its more a nuisance. Its there to stop anyone climbing the fence from the creek... and its deadly nasty because of the thorns... Morgan walked past it one day and a razor sharp thorn sliced her face from side to side just missing her eye. I thought she'd have a scar for life. They do breed them without thorns now.
Just keep swimming... just keep swimming.. just keep swimming....
