Happy 75th Birthday Elvis.

Postby Morty » Fri Jan 08, 2010 11:07 am

Elvis would have been 75 today and providing he could prove both his parents and all four Grand Parents were still alive maybe he would qualify for an extreme winter heating payment

Sadly I do not and I’m bloody freezing

But hey let’s not let that spoil the party.
Thinking about it the party in Heaven would be pretty spectacular if they had a resident’s concert.

Elvis Presley..... Vocals
John Bonham.....Drums
Jimi Hendrix.......Lead Guitar
John Entwistle...Bass Guitar
Richard Wright...Keyboards
John Lennon......Rhythm Guitar and Vocals

Happy Birthday Elvis!

If Elvis is in heaven, then I'm going elsewhere! :P

I am not a fan and the fact that my ex wife was has nothing to do with it.

Why's Kurt Cobain not on that list?

Never heard of him / her Pooh

Only joking you know the generation of musicians I like. The whole idea of this thread was to get people to put on their own lists of Dead Bands!

At one of the firms where I used to work we used to have The Dead Lottery. Everyone who wanted to play put in a quid and gave the name of the celebrity they expected to pass away over the following week.
If a celebrity did pass away and his / her name was in the draw the person who had the name took the pot.
Very odd bunch of work mates!

I lost a small fortune on Jimmy Saville

I know someone who worked in a nursing home where the staff had a weekly sweepstake on which resident would die. Kind of ghoulish, but maybe when you are working with death so much, it doesn't do to take it too seriously. :?

Ouch....I was expecting to get panned for mentioning the sweepstake at my office and for suggesting we list our favourite Dead Bands.......A sweepstake in a Nursing Home.......Some of us are closer to Nursing Homes than other members......Bet my name would be highly fought over

Death is my favourite Discworld character but for the time being I'm not too keen on being close enough to him to ask him to sign my copy of Reaper Man

Surely Beethoven on keyboards. Did you not see Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure? He rocked!

Funny you mentioning Kurt Cobain, when he died the same week as Bill Hicks, but look who got the headlines.

I really miss Ian Dury. A real Renaissance man of a very different cloth.

(Just imagine him doing Sweet Gene Vincent WITH Gene Vincent..)
