BOOK OF LINES

Postby CrysaniaMajere » Thu Dec 31, 2009 5:37 pm

For years, with my friend Alisa, everytime we found a new sentence that we thought it was worth it, we decided to write it down in what we called "the book of lines" (more or less) :D

If you like the idea, we could all write here every sentence that we find in any kind of books, to share it with everybody else :P

Right now I'm reading Jane Eyre and there was written:
there is no happiness like that of being loved by your fellow-creatures, and feeling that your presence is an addiction to their comfort
because she went away for a month and coming back she was surprised to see that they all were happy to have her back.
It's not my favourite book so far, I'm half-way through it, but it's nice :P

I have to agree with the good Doctors diagnosis of this thread. I just wish my knowledge of Italian came close to Crysania’s understanding of English. I think this idea could see this thread being one of the most popular of 2010.

Nice idea Crys

Good idea. All i can think of at the moment is:

"Freedom without limits is just a word."

This is the opening sentence from the minotaur takes a cigarette break

"The minotaur sits on an empty pickle bucket blowing smoke through bullish nostrils."
A poster outside one shop urged people to Dig For Victory, as if it were some kind of turnip.

This sentence is from a song (My secret) written by Anna Ternheim, I hope it is still okay that I write it here because I love it.

"The best days are not planned by common sense, by lack of time"
"Oh, please sue the University! We´ve got a pond full of people who tried to sue the University...! Going Postal

Another one from Jane Eyre, the last one I promise.
When he asks her, rather joking : "fairy as you are, can't you give me a charm, a philter, to make me a handsome man?"
she says joking "It could be past the power of magic" but what she thinks is
a loving eye is all the charm needed.

I know there's too much honey maybe, but I like romantic things expecially when they are true :D

I really like Jane Eyre :D One of the reasons why I like the book is because I think there isn´t so much honey in it.

But I agree with you CrysaniaMajere, most of the romantic things from the book are true :)

This is from Fruits Basket, technically a comic, but still
"<School's> kind of... annoying. Apparently they don't like my hair or my attitude, so I think in this case...I have no choice but to get my ears pierced."
"Why is that gas stove wearing a hat?"
"He's going out"

On the theory that I might change it someday and everyone will wonder what I'm on about if I just say that I like the quote in my signature:

"SCIENCE: A way of finding things out and then making them work. Science explains what is happening around us all the time. So does RELIGION, but science is better because it comes up with more understandable excuses when it's wrong."

Which is a quote from the Bromeliad Trilogy by Terry. :D
