You don't want much do you  I have trouble knowing what was released this year, so maybe something by Florence and the machine, or Sabotage by the Beastie Boys.

But you have tell us yours :P
What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!

And what about song of the decade? Or the century?

Hi there matthereaper - good question and my answer's similar to Dotsie's as I no longer follow the charts on the popular hit parade (such as they are these days  )

If it was the song of the (last) century as Tristan's suggesting, then I may be tempted to say Don't Fear the Reaper by that grand combo outfit the Blue Oyster club

Wotcha matthereaper, welcome. :)

Start with a simple question, why don't you? ;) Lesse'...

Ummm, the insanely catchy "Song Away" by Hockey is a front runner for me, as is "That Golden Rule" by Biffy Clyro (Yes, I'm aware they've mellowed their sound a lot, but I like what they've done with their more commercial thing.), not forgetting "Bonkers" by Dizzee Rascal, "Watch the Sun Come Up" by Example, or a very recent release "End Credits" by Chase & Status ft Plan B or even "Rubber Lover" by Marmaduke Duke.

There can be only one song of the year though, and in my mind the best song of the year has been from a personal favourite band of mine; "Not the Only Person" by The Rumble Strips. They make me think of Dexy's Midnight Runners, but in a good way. :D

Aaaaargh too many to choose from
Ain't Nothing Like You (Hoochie Coo) by Blakroc
What's A Girl Gotta Do? Basement Jaxx Feat. Paloma Faith
Seasick Steve Diddly Bo
Florence & The Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)
Bat For Lashes - Pearl's Dream
Fever Ray If I Had A Heart
and one I only discovered this year, does that count?
The Imagined Village - Cold Haily Rainy Night There's just summat 'bout Eliza Carthy too, especially when she dances.
Thats all that spring to mind now but I'm sure I'll remember more later

See I knew I'd miss someone out, how could I forget
The Duckworth Lewis Method and their superb concept album all about cricket, and then there's Fleet Foxes, Elbow's Grounds For Divorce...... I best stop or I will get carried away.

I tried to show this link from youtube, but its not avaiable to post somehow!...

but my favourite record has to be Turtle soup by Ivor Cutler, a haunting melody with a message in the lyrics that is as good for today as for the year it was made.

Actually, this thread is only one song a year. So it will die if people follow the rules, Mr Smartypants :P

Which year are we on about it's a bit early to choose the song of the year for 2010 so I'm guessing we're looking for our favorite song of 2009.....Is this correct and if so is it also correct that I can only choose 1 song or a lot of people will die.
