Should i alter this Model? (Pics inside)

Postby lynall » Wed Dec 02, 2009 10:14 am

Hi Everyone,

I got into the shop yesterday and got a bit of work done on the scythe im making for the death of rats but i am unsure if i like the cheese.

I still need to guild it yellow so it looks better so please ignore the colour. my dad loves the shape but my mum doesn't like and i don't know where i stand. Can you give me your opinions?

Also i don't know if i should get it engraved yet but if i do i'll take some pics for when i post all my finished items :D

Looks fantastic, to me. I'm assuming you're going to get rid of that blobby bit, though. Don't like that.

Hi Quark,

Thanks for that. The big blobby bit is actually the base haha. It needs to be there because the scythe is to top heavy because the way it is angled. The design is the blobby bit is the base and the cheese is removable and actually holds the scythe in place via a peg running through the piece.

Under the smaller base is going to be engraving too. I am going to engrave "SQUEAK!" this is why it is removable.

Looks good lynall as it is and if the cheese is moved to the side so you can see the squeak that is a nice touch. :)

I think it's great - but I have a feeling that there should be two handles sticking out from the main shaft of the scythe. See picture. :)

I was going to say "handles", but Tony beat me to it!

I think it'd be cute if there was a small mouse/rat eating/on the cheese.

haha thanks guys! :) all the nice comments mean a lot!

I thought of doing handles but i prefer the plain look to be honest. By altering it i meant the cheese but i've decided to keep it as it is. I actually gilded it yellow today and it looks LOADS better!

Also i found a rotating tray so when i've done everything ill post some pics. I still need to engrave SQUEAK on it and then it'll be 100% done.

I did some more on my sign today and that should be finished monday too. I started a new piece today and if i can get it done how i want its going to be my new fav piece.

Thanks again guys! :D

I think the cheese looks really good - it's obvious what it is and must look extra good gilded.
