Asking for Special Thoughts, Prayers, Vibes or whatever

Postby swreader » Tue Nov 17, 2009 6:57 pm

Stella Pope Durarte and her son John, good and special friends of both Tony and I have been going through hell with totally undeserved legal problems for about a year. They live in Phoenix (the home of infamous Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Phoenix, as a whole, does not respect it's Hispanic population, and many of the residents have suffered from this.

John (about 18, I think) has been essentially framed by the cops for a stupid post (the sort that kids make) on the internet which they have treated as a terrorist threat. It wore on him that finally Stella took him to the Emergency Room on Nov. 4th, he was in intensive care for three days and only came on on the 13th.

Both Stella (a marvellous author) and her son need all the support you can give, and Tony and I both ask for your help for them.

Apart from our best wishes and prayers, is there anything you want us to do?

Like, oh, say bombarding his office with Radiation or Microwaves. Perhaps the odd letter addressed to him personally with very fine powdered sugar. Perhaps a mess of hate mail and hate twitters. We can be inventive.

Having elected police chiefs is a bit 'alien' in itself to my mind - gives them far too much political clout to dictate what is right and enforce it without due process. I'm assuming you mean Arpaio as the recipient for all that though, Tina?

Like Batty's saying - anything practical we can do Sharlene aside from wishing John a speedy recovery and for the truth to be recognised?

Thanks guys! Nothing 'practical' just positive thoughts, wishes and prayers.

Stella is a lovely lady and an incredibly talented writer. She really doesn't need or deserve this.

I was thinking short-term, the Huffington Post.
Long-term, the ACLU.

Sharlene is perfectly qualified for both.
Plus, she now has a typist.

I send the Duartes my very best wishes.

I'll add my positive vibes to the rest. I hope this bully gets his come-uppance (you never know).

CNN was on at a restaurant I was at today and the Maricopa County Sherriff is Also the Judge??? It was confusing and there is a grand bruhaha over one of the deputies actually STEALING evidence from one of the attorneys files and removing it from the courtroom. Documented on camera. Unreal. I don't get how a sherriff can be a Judge too.

It is like Hazzard County all over again. This dude sounds seriously messed up.
